 athy Begun grew up in Pennsylvania and Arizona and is now a resident of Centennial, Colorado. She has worked in the fashion industry for more than 12 years, gaining experience in ready-to-wear and cosmetics. This has provided her with the skills to enhance customers wardrobes through the use of color.
Cathy created The Elegant Bead in 1995. Her jewelry design business evolved from a hobby that she started by making bracelets and earrings for herself. She saw that she could express her love of color by using a unique variety of semiprecious stones, shapes, and textures. A member of Entrepreneurial Mothers Association since 1997, Cathy was named the 2001 Entrepreneurial Mother of the Year. Once Cathy's friends and family asked her to design custom jewelry pieces for themselves and for gift-giving, Cathy was inspired to create a line of unique jewelry items available at many fine stores.
